On Tuesday, 2 February 2016, the Myanmar-Norway Business Council, Export Credit Norway, GIEK and Innovation Norway arranged a seminar on financing in Myanmar at the residence of H.E. Ms. Ann Ollestad, the Norwegian Ambassador to Myanmar. Ola Nicolai Borge, the President of Myanmar-Norway Business Council opened the seminar after being welcomed by Ambassador Ollestad
Mr. Dag Tørvold, First Vice President at GIEK talked on competitive financing solutions from Norway. The Norwegian state is in a unique financial position to help you secure your next export contract in Myanmar. GIEK and Export Credit Norway can assist Norwegian companies with financing and enable Myanmar clients to purchase Norwegian capital goods or services on long-term credit, without you assuming the risk of non-payment.
The next speaker was Mr. Patrik Fransson, Director of Sales at Jacobsen Elektro who described the company’s experiences in doing business in Myanmar. The company has been active in Myanmar since 2013 and has submitted a bid to the Myanmar Government on upgrading 13 electrical substations in Yangon metropolitan area, thereby securing power for the city.
Finally, Mr. Jason Pellmar, Senior Investment Officer at International Finance Corporation (IFC) talked on Financing projects in Myanmar where he listed many examples of how IFC can work together with other financial institutions on how to part-finance projects in the country.
Following the presentations, a reception was held allowing the participants to mingle.
