Myanmar’s 2020 Election

Prof. Mary P. Callahan takes us on a journey starting with Election 101 followed by an analysis of potential outcomes as well what they will mean for the business sector. Prof. Callahan will be introduced by Norway’s new Ambassador to Myanmar, H.E. Ms. Hilde Solbakken. In addition, a short introduction of the newly appointed Chair of Myanmar-Norway Business Council, Mr. Jon Omund Revhaug, CEO of Telenor Myanmar.

Mary P. Callahan is associate professor in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. Currently on long-term leave from UW, she is based in Yangon, Myanmar, where she is researching a book on the emergence of crony capitalism in the military junta period (1988-2011). Callahan is also a founding partner in Ava Advisory Ltd., which provides political risk advisory services in Myanmar.
